The story Doctor Zhivago by Boris Pasternak relates to Chris in a couple of different ways. First of all, Doctor Zhivago was against the Russian way of life just like Chris is against the way that society is. Also, the big thing that i thought related was that Doctor Zhivago had a struggle between loving two women. I related this to how in the end Chris was struggling between his loneliness and wanting to immerse himself back with other people, as well as wanting to stay in the wild where he felt he belonged. Both men have to struggle with this face and both men are forced into choosing a path. Zhivago choose to let his love escape to safety out of Russia, so he went with his other love. Chris, on the other hand, stayed in the wild because he was trapped in by the river. There are many similarities between this novel and Chris McCandless's life.
